The easiest way to define a puppy mill is a dog breeding facility that places the utmost importance on profits, and little to no importance on the health and safety of its dogs. Unfortunately, there are an estimated 10,000 of these facilities in the United States.

Please meet this week's Wag Your Tail Spotlight Dog, April!
April's human Richard P. shared with us:
I would like for you to meet my second best friend, APRIL.. ( My wife is my first best friend, but after 35 years together, she deserves top billing! ) So about April. April is a three (3) year old Black Lab, and Chow Mix. As a pup she was injured in a kennel accident, and lost her big fluffy tail, it had to be docked to a stub, as a result of most people mistakenly think she is a pit mix.. She was up for adoption and no-one would even consider her because of the tail, or rather the lack of one! We found her, just days before she was to be "put down", and what a find!
Canines trained as guide dogs have helped visually impaired people maintain their independence and normalcy for decades. If you have a desire to help others regain their sense of self and you have a special pup who you know will make the ideal guide dog.
KC, is my pride and joy, we kept him back from our Tia's third litter, I wanted to keep him from the minute he was born, but hesitated as we had lost Karne, our much loved white rescue boy earlier that same year and I was worried I would continually compare them. But it was like he already knew he was staying and had picked us, as he just refused to interact with any of the prospective new owners.
Animal cruelty is a sad fact of life that all too many people have to witness at some point in their lives. However, trying to find out who to report cases to can be somewhat tricky. You want to make sure that you know which organizations are the right ones to report suspected cruelty to and how to go about making sure your concerns are taken seriously.
This is Buddy. He's our little ambassador of good will. He earned his canine good citizen status just before his first birthday last year. He loves meeting people of all ages and mugging for the camera. He makes life better for us.
Please meet this week's Wag Your Tail Spotlight Dog, Bramley!

My dog, Bramley, is about a 9 year old male neutered Shepherd mix. What he's mixed with is anyone's guess. He's very fluffy, sweet, has a very enthusiastic full-body wag and a beautiful smile (if there was room for more pictures, I'd inundate you).
