The Healthiest Dog Breeds

Dogs are an amazing part of life and can bring joy to your whole family, but when your little fur ball gets hurt or sick it can be a scary time. In this article I will be looking at the 9 healthiest dog breeds and how they made the list.

Though these breeds are proven to be resilient there can still be complications as all dogs are different. If you are getting a dog from a breeder make sure it is a reputable one and if you are adopting contact your veterinarian to get your dog checked out. No dogs will be 100% healthy their entire life but this list of dogs can hold their own.

Australian Cattle dog

The Australian Cattle dog is a compact muscular dog that is great at herding anything that they might face. Cousin to the dingoes of Australia these dogs are bred tough and are able to withstand most climates with ease. Although though some Australian cattle dogs have been known to shrug off pain leading to further injuries so is a good idea to keep an eye out for any  signs of pain. The Australian cattle dog has been known to live 10-13 years.

Border collie

Another one of the healthiest dog breeds that is known for its in intelligence is the border collie. This breed is prone to some health problems but is healthy with the right care and exercise with  toys. Just like the Australian cattle dog the border collie is a herding dog that loves to work. If cared for these dogs have been known to live for up to 14 years.

Bread to be a scent hound these dogs love to sniff and that's what they'll do. The Beagle is an excitable dog that loves to please and will stick to you like glue. Known to be a good hunting dog these guys have to be a little durable, but even though they are so tough they are a very happy go lucky breed that is perfect for families and will make you laugh. Beagles tend to live for 12-15 years if properly cared for.

Small but mighty the chihuahua is a dog known for its large personality, but because of their size they have low exercise needs. This breed is known to be prone to certain health problems but overall is an incredibly healthy breed. With proper love and care the chihuahua has been known to live anywhere from 13-20 years old making them one of the healthiest dog breeds.  

Australian Shepherd

The Aussie is a breed known for being amazing farm dogs and can withstand many things life may throw at it. Though prone to certain illnesses the Australian Shepard is known to keep a healthy lifestyle and should be exercised regularly to maintain this. When properly cared for Australian Shepard can live up to 15 years old while still being incredibly loyal the entire time.

Shiba Inu

An ancient breed from Japan the Shiba Inu was bred to hunt in the mountains. Because of this they have certain traits that make them healthy. Shorter but still muscular the Shiba breed is in great shape and needs exercise to stay this way. Known to sometimes have the behavior of a teenager the Shiba Inu has been known to live anywhere between 12-15 years old.

Bichon Frise

Another small breed the puffball known as the Bichon Frise is known for its hypoallergenic properties. This breed is an easily trained dog that has many tricks up their sleeves, while also being a fun loving companion to any family. Though prone to some health problems the Bichon is still capable of living 12-15 years old.

A very athletic dog the Greyhound is a breed of dog in the sight-hound category known for their speed and racing ability. Because the breed is so athletic they require a lot of exercise withsturdy gear to keep up with their energy levels. If taken care of properly they are incredibly healthy and can live up to 12 years old.

Cairn Terrier

One of the oldest terriers, the Cairn Terrier was bred to be a rodent hunter and native to Scotland. This hearty breed is short and stout capable of holding its own and is a workhorse for its size. There is not much that can bring this dog down though they are still prone to certain illnesses, the Cairn terrier has been known to live 12-15 years old making them one of the healthiest dog breeds.

Even though these dogs are known to be healthy there in to guarantee they won't get an illness or injury. Make sure to visit your veterinarian regularly to keep your dog healthy and happy.
