Summer is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the weather with your dog. Here are a few ways for you and your dog to enjoy the sunshine with outdoor activities.
Hiking with your dog can be a very rewarding experience. However, you'll need to prepare for your dog just as you do for yourself. Some hiking trails require your dog to be on a leash or harness, while some allow you to let your dog roam. You should only go leash free if your dog is very well behaved, however. Depending on how long your hike is, your dog will likely need food and water as well. You can add it to your pack, or get a dog pack. A cooling collar is great to have in hot weather, and it can help keep your dog from overheating.
Dog Parks are a great way to get out and get some exercise with your dog. Bring a frisbee or other toy for your dog to play with, and have fun.
If your dog loves water, the lake or a beach is a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. To keep your dog entertained, you'll need to bring along a toy or two. Zogoflex toys are great for play on land and water. They are very durable, and they float as well. This makes them perfect for throwing into the lake for your dog to fetch.
If the thought of swimming with fish makes you squirm, take your dog to a dog water park. These water parks are designed for dogs. They have places for your dog to run, swim, and even chase spraying water. Most of these parks have human swimming areas as well, so be sure to bring your suit.
Agility training can be very rewarding for dogs. You can sign your four-legged friend up for agility classes, or you can make an agility course in your yard. Agility equipment can be purchased, but you can make many of the items yourself, especially if your goal is fun for your dog instead of competition.
These are a few activities you can enjoy with your dog this summer. Have fun making memories with your dog this summer.
